How to Add Sources to Tachiyomi – Step by Step Guide 2026
If you just installed Tachiyomi and opened it up, You are excited to finally read your favorite manga and then boom, you finds absolutely nothing. No sources, no extensions, just a dead empty screen staring right back at you. Your first thought? Did I install the wrong app? Is something broken? Did I waste my time? Relax, you are not the only one, every Tachiyomi user have experienced this. The app itself is completely fine
Here is what happened. Tachiyomi’s official extension repository was taken down in early 2024, causing “No Sources Found” errors and as a result they had to pull all the built-in extensions out of the app. So now when you install it fresh, it comes empty. No sources included, no pre loaded extensions. You have to add them yourself.
The good news is that we will help you fix it in two or three minutes, and once you know what you’re doing, it’s actually pretty simple. You basically just paste in a repository URL so the app knows where to find extensions, then you install whichever extension you want, and that’s it. You are all set and can start reading your favorite Manga.

What Are Sources in Tachiyomi?
Sources are extensions that connect Tachiyomi to manga websites like MangaDex, Mangakakalot, or MangaNato. If you have not installed source, the app can’t fetch any manga. Think of it like this “Tachiyomi” is the player, and sources are the channels.
Sources live inside repositories. A repo is basically a server that hosts a collection of extension files. You add the repo URL once, and then you can install any extension from it.
Step 1: Add the Keiyoushi Repo
Keiyoushi is the most trusted and actively maintained repo for Tachiyomi in 2026. It hosts 100+ manga sources including MangaDex, Mangakakalot, MangaNato, and more.
Open Tachiyomi
Tap More “bottom right)” -> Settings
Go to Browse -> Extension Repos
Tap the + button
Paste this URL:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/keiyoushi/extensions/repo/index.min.json
Tap Add and restart the app. That’s it. Your repo is now connected.
Step 2: Install a Source Extension
Now that your repo is added, you can install any source you want.
Go to Browse -> Extensions
You will see a list of available extensions
Find the one you want (e.g., MangaDex, Mangakakalot)
Tap the download icon next to it
Android will ask you to allow installation from unknown sources, tap Allow
Once installed, it moves to the Installed section at the top
The extension is disabled by default, so tap the enable button next to it to activate it.
Step 3: Start Reading
Go to Browse -> Sources
Find your installed source and tap on it. Search for any manga you want and tap Add to Library and start reading. That’s the full process. Most users finish this in under 3 minutes.
Best Sources to Install in 2026
Not all sources are equal. Some load fast, some break often. Here are the most reliable ones
| MangaDex | Most stable, huge library, rarely breaks |
| MangaNato / Mangakakalot | Fast loading, great for popular titles |
| Komga | Best if you host your own manga library locally |
| webtoons | For manhwa readers |
Stick to 3/5 sources max. More extensions slow down updates and cause conflicts.
Tachiyomi vs Mihon. Which One Should You Use?
Tachiyomi is no longer actively maintained by its original team. Mihon apk is the official continuation, same app, same interface, same Keiyoushi extensions, but with regular updates and bug fixes.
If you’re setting things up fresh in 2026, just use Mihon. The process above works exactly the same on both apps.
Troubleshooting. Extensions Not Showing Up?
Extensions tab is empty?
You haven’t added a repo yet. Go back to Step 1.
You have installed Extension but source doesn’t appear?
You forgot to enable it. Go to Extensions -> Installed -> tap the enable icon.
Getting a download error?
The repo URL might be wrong. Delete it and repaste the Keiyoushi URL exactly as shown above.
Still not working?
Try using a VPN. Some ISPs block GitHub, and the repo URL pulls files from GitHub servers.
FAQs
Q: Why does Tachiyomi have no sources after I installed it?
A: Due to DMCA notices in 2024, Tachiyomi removed all pre loaded extensions. You now have to add a repo manually and install sources yourself.
Q: Is the Keiyoushi repo safe?
A: Yes. It’s the community maintained replacement for Tachiyomi’s original repo and is widely trusted across Reddit, Discord, and the Tachiyomi community.
Q: Can I add multiple repos?
A: Yes, but keep it minimal. Each extra repo increases the chance of conflicts and slower updates. Keiyoushi covers most users’ needs.
Q: Do sources work on Mihon too?
A: Yes. Mihon uses the exact same Keiyoushi extensions. The steps above work on both apps.
Q: My source stopped working after an update. what do I do?
A: Go to Extensions -> find the broken source -> tap Update. If no update is available, the website may have changed its structure. Check the Keiyoushi GitHub issues page for a fix.
